Art Deco

This is a stunning walk that will lead you on a search of Art Deco buildings in Montreal. Art Deco is a style that emerged in France after end of World War 1. The period it represents can be debated, but, believed to be 1918 thru 1940. It represented luxury, glamour and social and technological progress. It can be found in art, luxury liners, home appliances, buildings, fashion, etc. There are many Art Deco buildings in this city, but, we tried to fashion this walk in such a way to get most of them from downtown thru to Old Montreal. There are many more Art Deco buildings elsewhere in Montreal, so we will definitely plan a second walk to capture those ones as well.
Much of the Art Deco on these buildings could be the entire building, or just the facade, or even just a brilliant lobby in the entrance of the building. Evens the doors are exceptional. There is one location we added to this walk that we cannot even see – it is the Ninth Floor Restaurant of Eaton’s Department store. It is locked down and not available to the public.
We hope you enjoy this walk as much as we did and it will take several hours from start to finish, with stopping for photo’s and even a coffee/lunch somewhere.
