The Lachine Rapids are almost 5 km in length (3 miles) and lie in the St. Lawrence River between the island of Montreal and the south shore. Parc des Rapides is 74 acres and a migratory bird sanctuary. This is a great vantage point to view the rapids and the St. Lawrence River. Be careful of any wildlife (whether it is a bird, a turtle, a frog, etc) and do not feed them or try to touch them.
You can get to Parc des Rapides via bus, car or walk from the area or you can bicycle along the Lachine Canal from Old Montreal.
Take caution: The rapids are dangerous and the water is swift, so don't get too close and risk falling in.
